Used by the Royal Family in the gardens of the Palaces of Queluz and Mafra. Of Italian origin, it was a vehicle especially attractive for the young princes and princesses.
It is an open vehicle with decoration in Rocaille style, pulled by a horse.
The rear panel has the Royal Coat of Arms and there is a seat for the groom on the tail end. The body is entered using a step attached to each shaft.
Two elongated wooden arcs covered by metal plates, extend downward from the axis and serve as shock absorbers in the event of a wheel coming loose. |
